By Safina khan / London: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held an informal interaction with the media in London and spoke about the ongoing efforts to secure the release of 10 Pakistani seafarers.
Dar said international laws do not allow governments to secure the release of hostages by paying ransom.
“We are making every possible effort, but there are many things that cannot be made public at this stage,” Dar said.
He stressed that Pakistan’s priority is to ensure the safe release of the Pakistani seafarers.
“Our objective is to bring our 10 Pakistani brothers home,” he said.
Dar also confirmed that he is scheduled to meet British Foreign Secretary David Lammy during his visit to the UK. He said he would speak to the media in greater detail before returning to Pakistan.
Commenting on Pakistan-UK relations, the Deputy Prime Minister said ties between the two countries are already improving and expressed confidence that his current visit would further strengthen bilateral relations.
Dar’s remarks come as Pakistan continues diplomatic efforts to secure the safe release of the 10 Pakistani seafarers, while keeping certain details of the negotiations confidential.
