Saudi Arabia’s Directorate General of Civil Defence has issued an early warning for Makkah City, urging residents and visitors to remain alert, exercise caution and strictly follow official safety instructions.
Authorities have advised people in the affected area to remain calm and immediately move to the nearest safe location, preferably inside a building or an interior room away from windows, and remain there until the situation has passed.
The Civil Defence guidance includes:
• Do not leave your home or building until the danger has passed.
• Stay away from open areas, windows and glass, and avoid balconies and rooftops.
• If outdoors, enter the nearest building or take shelter behind a solid, sturdy barrier.
• Avoid crowded or potentially dangerous areas and refrain from taking photographs during the situation.
• If driving when the warning is received, pull over safely to the side of the road, away from bridges and high-rise buildings.
• Follow all instructions issued by the competent authorities through official channels.
Residents and visitors are also reminded that the emergency number is 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, while 998 can be used in other parts of the Kingdom.
Further details about the nature of the potential danger were not immediately provided. Authorities are urging the public to rely on official announcements and avoid spreading unverified information.
