JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is due to meet US President Donald Trump’s envoy and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, on August 17, as Washington pushes to advance its Gaza peace plan.
The meeting comes a day after Netanyahu held a rare meeting with Hamas officials in Cairo, adding momentum to ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a ceasefire and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The talks with Kushner are expected to focus on the next steps in the US-backed peace initiative and efforts to reach an agreement between Israel and Hamas.
The latest diplomatic activity signals renewed efforts by the Trump administration to bring the conflict toward a political resolution.
