By Safina khan: Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Coordinator of the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, has been honoured with the prestigious 2026 Hubert Walter Award for Reconciliation and Interfaith Cooperation at a ceremony held at the historic Lambeth Palace in London.
The award was presented during a distinguished ceremony in the Great Hall of Lambeth Palace, recognising Ashrafi’s contribution to promoting interfaith dialogue, religious harmony, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
The Hubert Walter Award is among the Lambeth Awards presented by the Archbishop of Canterbury to individuals and organisations whose work has made an outstanding contribution to reconciliation and cooperation between people of different faiths and communities.
Ashrafi’s recognition places particular emphasis on efforts to strengthen understanding and engagement between religious communities and to promote peace in an increasingly polarised world.
