ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that overseas Pakistanis are a vital pillar of the country’s economy, assuring that the government is taking steps to facilitate and support the Pakistani diaspora.
He made these remarks during a meeting with Pakistan Press Club UK International Chairman and senior journalist Azhar Javaid in Islamabad.
The meeting discussed matters concerning overseas Pakistani journalists, their role in promoting Pakistan’s positive image internationally, and ways to strengthen cooperation between the government and Pakistani media professionals working abroad.
Attaullah Tarar said the government highly valued the contributions of overseas Pakistanis and was committed to providing them with greater facilities and support. He added that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had consistently emphasised stronger engagement with Pakistani professionals overseas and valued their expertise and services to the country.
Azhar Javaid highlighted the important role played by overseas Pakistani journalists in presenting Pakistan’s perspective to international audiences. He said journalists based abroad serve as an important bridge between Pakistan and the international community.
He particularly acknowledged the role of overseas Pakistani journalists during Marka-e-Haq, saying they helped present Pakistan’s viewpoint internationally and counter misinformation.
Azhar Javaid reaffirmed that overseas Pakistani journalists remain committed to professional journalism and would continue working to strengthen Pakistan’s image and national interests at the international level.
The meeting also explored further avenues for cooperation between Pakistani journalists abroad and relevant government institutions, with both sides expressing the desire to enhance engagement and coordination.
