By Irfan ul Haq / London : A delegation of the Pakistan Press Club UK, led by President Shaukat Dar, visited Brent Civic Centre at the special invitation of the Mayor of Brent, Councillor Dr Amir Agha.
The delegation included General Secretary Safina Khan and Senior Vice President Irfan ul Haq. Councillor Saghir Zaman, the first Pakistani and youngest Mayor of Warrington, was also present on the occasion.
Former Mayor of Brent, Councillor Tariq Dar, welcomed the delegation and accompanied them on a tour of various sections of the Civic Centre, providing an insight into the council’s work and services.
Mayor of Brent Councillor Dr Amir Agha said that Brent is home to a diverse range of communities, all of which make valuable contributions to the borough. He particularly praised the Pakistani community for its active involvement in different sectors and its contribution to local life.
Dr Amir Agha also acknowledged the important role played by journalists in highlighting community issues, achievements and positive initiatives. He congratulated Councillor Saghir Zaman on becoming Mayor of Warrington.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Press Club President Shaukat Dar, General Secretary Safina Khan and Senior Vice President Irfan ul Haq said the organisation remains committed to highlighting the concerns of the Pakistani community while also promoting its achievements and positive contributions to British society.
The meeting provided an opportunity for representatives of the Pakistani media and community to strengthen links with local government and discuss the role of the media in supporting and connecting communities.
