London: Marking Youm e Istehsal e Kashmir, a large number of Kashmiris and Pakistanis gathered outside the Indian High Commission in London to protest against India’s actions in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir following the constitutional changes of 5 August 2019.
The demonstrators voiced their support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and raised slogans highlighting the Kashmir issue. The protest also featured expressions of support for Pakistan, the Pakistan Armed Forces, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, with chants echoing around the diplomatic premises.
Speakers addressing the rally said that the measures introduced on 5 August 2019 undermined the political identity and rights of the Kashmiri people and were inconsistent with relevant United Nations resolutions. They urged the international community to take notice of the human rights situation in the region and play a more active role in supporting the Kashmiri people’s aspirations.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to raising awareness about the Kashmir issue and pledged to continue advocating for what they described as a just and lasting resolution. The demonstration concluded peacefully, with protesters expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir and calling for greater international attention to the dispute.
