A rare albino buffalo, widely known online as “Donald Trump” because of its distinctive blond tuft, has been saved from being sacrificed during Eid al-Adha after authorities intervened at the last moment.
The nearly 700kg animal had reportedly already been purchased for ritual sacrifice ahead of the festival. However, growing public attention and safety concerns prompted government officials to step in before the sacrifice could take place.
According to officials from the Home Ministry, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed directed authorities to protect the buffalo and ensure the buyer received a full refund. The unusual animal had attracted widespread interest on social media in the lead up to Eid, turning it into an internet sensation.
