ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has declared that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is heading towards a decisive victory in the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, saying unofficial trends show the party has established a commanding lead.
Addressing the media after the initial results began emerging, Tarar said the elections were held in a peaceful, transparent and democratic environment, with enthusiastic participation from voters and all major political parties.
Referring to the preliminary and unofficial results, the minister expressed confidence in PML-N’s performance, stating, “God willing, the lion will roar in Kashmir.”
Tarar said the party’s electoral success reflects the confidence of the people in the leadership of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the development agenda pursued by the PML-N.
He said Kashmir has always remained at the forefront of the party’s priorities and that the PML-N has consistently worked for the welfare, development and prosperity of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The information minister also credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for giving special attention to the region through infrastructure development and public welfare initiatives, saying these efforts have reinforced public support for the ruling party.
Tarar maintained that the early trends indicate the PML-N is in a strong position to secure victory in the opening phase of the elections. However, the results remain unofficial and provisional, with the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir expected to announce the official results after the completion of the counting process.
